As many know, there are forces on the prowl who would like to make dramatic changes to Alabama’s retirement system for public employees.  This effort is of great concern to more than 340,000 RSA members, the majority of whom are former educators.

A “Save Our RSA” town hall meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Pelham Civic Center, 500 Amphitheater Road, Pelham.  This begins at 6 p.m.  Speakers will discuss currents threats to the system and bring attendees up-to-date on this situation.

A similar meeting is scheduled for Nov. 16 at Carver High School in Montgomery.  It will also begin at 6 p.m.

Geoff Statum and David Harer are firefighters in Huntsville who began a campaign to call attention to “pension reform” five year ago.  They created this Facebook page that now has more than 64,000 members and does an excellent job of keeping abreast of the twists and turns to this issue.

Whether your are a retired educator, retired state employee, or perhaps will be one day, note Oct 27 in Pelham and Nov. 16 in Montgomery.
